About Kehillat Ohr Shalom
Kehillat Ohr Shalom in Ramat Beit Shemesh Aleph is a warm, close-knit congregation dedicated to Torah, tefillah, and community. Founded and guided by Rabbi Chayim Soloveichik, the Soloveichik legacy is central to the shul’s ideological and spiritual approach. Ohr Shalom emphasizes inclusivity and personal connection, striving to ensure that every individual feels an integral part of the kehilla.
A Kehilla with Shared Values
The kehilla is comprised of veteran olim, newer immigrants (primarily from English-speaking countries) and native-born Israelis who share a common outlook and a strong sense of belonging. Ohr Shalom is proudly Zionist, maintaining a deep connection to the State of Israel and heartfelt support for its soldiers.
Torah, Tefillah, and Gemilut Chessed
Ohr Shalom is actively engaged in chessed, including food support, financial assistance to families in need, and ongoing initiatives to support IDF soldiers, with hands-on efforts such as making tzitzit. Torah is a central pillar of communal life, with regular shiurim in both English and Hebrew, and an annual communal siyum Tanach.
Lifecycle events are celebrated in a distinctly Israeli religious spirit, strengthening both personal and communal bonds. Today, Kehillat Ohr Shalom continues to grow as a caring and vibrant community—rooted in tradition, committed to Torah learning and chessed, and deeply dedicated to the people and land of Israel.
